Account

You can manage the accounts that you need available for transactions in Sage Distribution and Manufacturing Operations. These accounts display when you add accounts to a posting class. They also display on AP and AR invoices only and in journal entries.

Create an account

When creating an account, the Active switch is ON by default.

If you add a new account here, you must also add it in your financial solution.
  1. Select Create.
  2. Enter the full account ID.
  3. Enter the account name exactly as it appears in your financial solution that matches the account ID you just entered.
  4. If this is a control account, change Control switch to ON. In that case, a business entity is required on the journal entry lines.
  5. Set the Direct entry forbidden switch to ON when direct entry for this account is forbidden. In that case, the entry is created from another account posting such as an AP or AR invoice. Typically, this should be ON for AP and AR accounts. The default value is OFF.
  6. Select the chart of accounts.
  7. The tax management rule depends on the legislation for the chart of accounts and how tax information is sent to your financial solution.

    French and German legislations: Select the appropriate tax management for the given account. If you integrate with Sage Intacct, tax management is Other by default.

    All other legislations: Select Other and cannot be modified.

Required dimensions and attributes

If your financial solution is Sage Intacct, you can define required dimensions and attributes at the GL account level. These values are defined in Sage Intacct and display in the Required dimensions grid. The data in the grid is display only.

If account-level dimensions or attributes are missing on transaction lines with the relative account, you receive an error message when saving or posting.

Any changes need to be made in Sage Intacct.

Edit an account

Normally, you do not need to edit an account.

If you make modifications, remember to make the same modifications in your financial solution manually.

Delete an account

If you no longer want to use an account, you can delete it.

Normally, an account should be deleted if your financial solution is Sage FRP 1000 and it does not exist there.

You cannot delete an account if it is linked to a posting class. You could receive errors.

You also have the option to turn the Active switch to OFF. This can save time if you decide to reuse this account.
