Dimension type

Dimension types group financial information for analytical purposes. You can create up to 20 dimension types depending on your business needs.

When you activate a dimension type, it automatically displays as an option for default dimensions on other pages such as Company, Site, or Customer. If a dimension type is not active, it does not display.

Common dimension types:

  • A Department dimension type could be used to break down the company's activity and could include 1 dimension per department.
  • A Region dimension type could be used to analyze the turnover or the revenue by geographic area and could include 1 dimension per region.
  • A Vehicle dimension type could be used to track the costs for operating company vehicles and could include 1 dimension per vehicle.

Create a dimension type

  1. Select the Create icon to define a new dimension type.
  2. Enter a unique name.
  3. For Document property, enter the field that stores the dimensions for this dimension type in documents.
  4. Select Save.

Edit or delete a dimension type

You can edit any of the fields at any time.

You cannot delete a dimension type if it has dimensions allocated to it.

If your system is integrated with Sage Intacct, Department and Channel dimension types are available by default. You cannot edit or delete these 2 dimension types.
