Field descriptions: Unit of measure

General tab

Field Description
Active The switch to turn a measurement unit on or off.
Decimal digits The number of decimal places used with the measurement.
Description A description of the measurement.
ID The symbol for the measurement.
Name The name of the measurement.
Unit type The constant. For example, length, volume, area.

Conversion tab

Field Description
=> The symbol points to the resulting figure in the adjacent field.
Base unit The measurement to convert from.
Customer

The customer specific to the unit conversion.

You can define a customer or a supplier, but not both.

Factor

A numeric value. The conversion factor multiplies or divides the Base unit as a fraction that equals one of the Target unit.

Flow type

The transaction type specific to the unit conversion.

Select Sale, Purchase, or if the unit conversion applies to all transactions, then select Other.

The field is mandatory if you define the Customer or the Supplier.

Set to Sale if you define the Customer.

Set to Purchase if you define the Supplier.

Item

The code of the item that is specific to the unit conversion.

The item is mandatory if you define the Flow type, the Customer, or the Supplier.

Reverse factor The conversion factor applied when converting from the Target unit to the Base unit.
Standard

The checkbox is selected if a conversion is a standard international unit of measure conversion. This is a unit conversion for which the factor is the same for all stock items. For example, the conversion from kg (kilogram) to g (gram) always has a factor of 1000, the conversion from l (liter) to ml (milliliter) always has a factor of 1000.

Standard unit of measure conversions are supplied with your system. You cannot change them.

Supplier

The supplier specific to the unit conversion.

You can define a supplier or a customer, but not both.

Target unit The measurement to convert to.
