Field descriptions: Routing
This page describes the fields for the Routing page. The fields in each section are listed in alphabetical order.
The following table also describes the fields for the Duplicate routing panel.
Field | Description |
---|---|
Batch quantity |
The number of items that will be produced in a single batch run. The figure should be the optimal size of the production batch. The default Batch quantity is the item-site batch quantity. |
Batch time | The time it takes to produce a single Batch quantity. |
Bill of material |
The bill of material name the routing is used to build or maintain. This can be different from the Item name. |
Item | The name of the item to build or maintain with the routing. |
Name |
The routing name. The name identifies the routing. |
Site |
The production site name. Duplicate routing panel: You cannot change the site. |
Status |
The status on the shop floor of the routing. In development: The production operations or resources in the routing are not yet ready or complete. Available to use: The routing is complete and the coherence of the production operations is confirmed. Suspended: The routing is currently held or obsolete. Choose this status to keep a record of the routing instead of deleting it. You might need to do this if the routing has become obsolete or the item it's used to produce is temporarily outsourced, for example. A routing can only be assigned to a manufacturing process such as a work order when its status is Available to use. You can progress existing work orders for a Suspended routing. |
Time unit |
The unit of time used for the production costs calculations. The costs involved in building or maintaining the item are costed at per hour. The conversion from the entered time unit to hour is calculated automatically. |
Routing cost summary grid
Field | Description |
---|---|
Cost | The resource type. |
Setup | The total cost of setting up the active resources used for the operations in the routing. |
Run | The total cost of running the active resources used for the operations in the routing. |
Total | The sum of the resource costs for the row/column. |
Operations grid
The sequence of shop floor processes required to build or maintain the item or bill of material.
This table also describes the fields for the operations grid in the Duplicate routing panel.
Field | Description |
---|---|
Capability level |
The level of expertise required to perform the operation represented as a numerical value. The level reflects the expected behaviors, practices, and processes required to reliably and sustainably perform the operation to produce the finished item. |
Capability level name |
The level of expertise required to perform the operation. The level reflects the expected behaviors, practices, and processes required to reliably and sustainably perform the operation to produce the finished item. |
Name |
The production operation name. The name could describe what the operation involves. |
Operation cost |
The total cost of setting up and running the machines, tools, and labor resources used for the operation. The field is calculated automatically. |
Operation number |
The sequence number of the operation or the stage of production in the routing. The Operation number can represent a group of production operations which has been set up then arranged by priority order. |
Production step | When selected, the step in the production process at which the item can be received into stock. |
Resource or resource group number | The number of resources assigned to the production operation. |
Run time |
The actual time the machine, labor resource, or resource group works to complete the Batch quantity. The field displays the longest Run time from the list of individual resources and resource groups assigned to the Operation number. For example, it displays 30 minutes if there are 2 resource groups assigned to the production operation, both with a Run time of 30 minutes. The time forms part of the Routing cost summary. It is expressed in the Run time unit defined for the production operation. |
Setup time |
The actual time it takes to prepare the machine, labor resource, or resource group before production starts. The field displays the longest Setup time from the list of individual resources and resource groups assigned to the Operation number. For example, it displays 30 minutes if there are 2 resource groups assigned to the production operation, one with a Setup time of 15 minutes and one with a Setup time of 30 minutes. The time forms part of the Routing cost summary. It is expressed in the Setup time unit defined for the production operation. |
New and Edit operation panels
Field | Description |
---|---|
Capability level |
The level of expertise required to perform the operation. The level should reflect the expected behaviors, practices, and processes that are required to reliably and sustainably perform the operation to produce the finished item. |
Instructions |
Use to enter a description of or comprehensive and informative instructions appropriate to the production operation and links to supporting documentation for building the item or bill of material. Existing work orders are not updated with new or edited instructions. |
Name |
The production operation name. The name could describe what the operation involves. |
Operation number |
The sequence number of the operation or the stage of production in the routing. The Operation number can represent a group of production operations which has been set up then arranged by priority order.
|
Production step | The step in the production process that indicates that the item can be received into stock. |
Run time unit |
The unit of time used for the production costs calculations. The default time unit is the Time unit defined for the routing. |
Setup time unit |
The unit of time used for the production costs calculations. The default time unit is the Time unit defined for the routing. |
Add and Edit resource or resource group panels
Field | Description |
---|---|
Operation | The production operation Name. |
Resource for quantity produced |
