Daily shift
Use this function to define a working pattern, also known as a shift pattern, for a single unspecified day of the week.
Shift patterns are fixed working patterns. You use it to assign predefined shifts, or continuous periods of work in any full working day or shift to create a shift pattern. Each daily shift or shift pattern can consider change times and incidents that regularly affect a working day such as training, holidays and machine downtime.

Tip |
A shift is a continuous period of work. A shift pattern is a fixed working pattern. A shift can be attributed to multiple shift patterns and multiple days in a working week. You should consider the purpose of the daily shift and assign an ID and name that are relevant to the working pattern. |
Restrictions |
Individual shifts cannot overlap. You must ensure that the start time of one shift does not overlap the end time of the previous shift. |

This function uses the 24 hour clock.
Each shift pattern can be attributed, as required, to multiple days of a working week.
Create a daily shift pattern
- To add a new shift pattern, select Add.
-
Enter the shift pattern ID, then give your shift pattern a Name.
A shift pattern can be attributed to multiple days in a working week. You should consider the purpose of the shift pattern and enter an ID and Name that are relevant to the working pattern. For example, a shift pattern that starts at 08∶00 and ends at 18∶30 with a 1 hour break when employees stop for lunch could have the ID 9H30, or FULL: STANDARD to indicate a standard full working day. For this example the Name could be 9 HRS 30 MINS 8 AM START or FULL: 8 AM START.
-
Select the Full day checkbox if the shift lasts for a full 24 hours with no breaks.
Skip steps 4 - 6 and go straight to step 7.
Otherwise, leave the Full day checkbox clear.
- Leave the Capacity field blank and select Add shift details.
- Select the shift ID that matches a continuous period of work in the shift pattern.
-
Repeat step 5 until each continuous period of work in the shift pattern is listed in the Details grid.
-
Save your shift pattern.
The Capacity of the shift pattern is calculated and displayed.
Edit or delete a daily shift pattern
You can edit the Name of the shift pattern.
You can edit the list of individual shifts in the Details grid. You can delete individual shifts and add new shifts to the shift pattern. You must ensure, however, that there is no overlap between the actual start time of one shift and the end of a previous shift. When you save your changes the message "Record updated" is displayed. The Capacity of the shift pattern is recalculated automatically and displayed.
You can only delete a Daily shift record that has not been assigned to a Weekly shift.
