Attribute

Use this function to create and manage attributes.

Attributes are grouped by attribute type and are used to aggregate accounting information for analytical purposes.

Attributes and attribute types are used to analyze information relating to entities that exist in the product such as customers and suppliers. You can use dimensions and dimension types to analyze information such as departments, sales channels, and marketing campaigns.

For documents like orders and invoices, the Attribute field is automatically populated, except for attributes from the Project, Task, and Employee attribute types.

Create an attribute

When you create an attribute, you need to enter a unique ID and name. You can link an attribute to an attribute type. By default, a new attribute is active meaning it can be used when assigning default dimensions and attributes on the Company page or used in specific documents like orders or invoices.

Project attributes: You can link projects to a site.

Employee attributes: These attributes are not linked.

Task attributes: Task attributes are restricted to a project and cannot stand alone. You need to enter a project in the Attribute restricted to field. You can link multiple tasks to a single project. You can also link a task to an item.

If you change or remove a project with a task that is assigned to a document, a site, or a company, the associated task is removed. You can link to a task that exists for the new project.

Edit or delete an attribute

You can only edit attributes that have not been used in a document. However, you can edit attributes allocated to the Employee or Project attribute types if they have not been linked to your financial solution.

The attribute data must be consistent between Sage Distribution and Manufacturing Operations and your financial solution. You need to enter the same information from that solution in Sage Distribution and Manufacturing Operations.
If you add, edit, or delete information in one solution, you must manually make the same change in the other.
If Sage Intacct is your financial solution, any attributes belonging to the Project, Task, and Employee attribute types are automatically integrated from Sage Intacct. Do not change these in Sage Distribution and Manufacturing Operations.

Sage Intacct integration

If you integrate with Sage Intacct, you need to make sure the project module is enabled. Tasks are managed in Sage Intacct. If you are already using the employee and project attributes, you do not need to resynchronize. New projects are created in Sage Intacct and sent to Sage Distribution and Manufacturing Operations.
