Field descriptions: Machine resource
This page describes the fields for the Machine resource page. The fields in each section are listed in alphabetical order.
General tab
Field | Description |

Active |
The switch to make the machine resource available or unavailable. For example, when a machine resource is being maintained or repaired, you can disable the machine record. |
Active from Active to |
The dates when the machine becomes available and unavailable for use. For example, you can enter the installation date of the machine in the Active from field and when it becomes obsolete in the Active to field. |
Capability level |
The minimum level of expertise needed to work on the machine. The level should reflect the expected behaviors, practices, and processes that are required to reliably and sustainably perform production operations with the machine. Capability levels are defined on the Capability level page. |
Description | The description of the machine resource. |
ID | The machine resource ID. |
Machine model | The model of the machine. It could be useful in case of failure. |
Machine serial number | The serial number of the machine. It could be useful in case of failure. |
Name | The name of the machine. |
Site |
The production site at which the machine is used. |
Image block
A picture or graphic of the machine.
Settings block
Field | Description |
---|---|
24/7 |
Indicates if the machine is used 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. This status is automatically set for the selected weekly shift. |
Efficiency | The efficiency in percentage of the machine based on the estimated downtime. The efficiency is used to calculate the effective time for an operation for a Work order. |
Location |
The location where the machine is used. This location will be used to reorder components consumed at this machine for a work order. Locations are defined on the Location page. |
Resource group |
The resource group the machine resource is linked to. Resource groups are defined on the Resource group page. |
Weekly capacity | The total weekly capacity of the machine resource in hours and minutes. The calculation is based on the weekly shift. For example, if the weekly shift is 5 days 2 X 4 hours, the weekly capacity is 40 hours 0 mins. |
Weekly shift |
The number of days the machine is used each week and the number of hours it is used each day. For example: 5 days 2 X 4 hours. The weekly shift is detailed in the Weekly shift details grid day by day after you select a value. Weekly shifts are set on the Weekly shift page. |
Weekly shift details block
The grid is a view of the weekdays when the machine is used and the times of production. It is updated automatically for the selected weekly shift.

Capacity | The total daily work time. |
Daily shift | The daily shift. |
Day | The day of the week. |
Shift(n) | The different daily shifts. |
Contract tab
Field | Description |
---|---|
Contact | The supplier's contact that can be contacted for any queries on the contract or maintenance. |
Contact name | Defaults to the contact profile. |
ID | The ID of the contract. |
Name | The name of the contract. |
Supplier |
The machine's contract supplier. The supplier must be defined on the Supplier page. |
Cost tab
Field | Description |

Cost category |
The cost category. Cost categories are managed on the Cost category page. |
Cost unit |
The cost unit such as day or hour. |
Indirect cost |
The indirect cost section associated with the resource. Indirect costs sections are defined on the Indirect cost section page. |
Run | The direct cost of the machine when operating, per cost unit. |
Setup | The direct cost for setting up the machine resource, per cost unit. |
